Conan vs Stewart & Colbert - The final brawl / fight

I thought that this was great. I honestly don't know how Huckabee maintains his sense of humor...but he does and he does it well.

Huck Challenges McCain to a Verbal Dual

From the page:
"The Honorable John McCain

John McCain 2008

P.O. Box 16118

Arlington, VA 22215

Dear Senator McCain:

It's been my pleasure sharing the stage with you this past year, as we have worked to promote our ideas to lead this county. I have the deepest respect for you as a person, politician, and an American hero รข€" and I appreciate the way you have run such an issue-based, positive campaign.

Now that the race for the Republican nomination is down to just the two of us, I believe this is the time for a real discussion about our vision for the future of this great country. I encourage you to join me in a Lincoln Douglas-style debate so that voters can better understand our views on critical issues such as health care, education, energy independence, terrorism and national security.

Our Democratic counterparts, Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, have had recent opportunities to underscore the differences in their positions. It seems only fitting to me that Republican primary voters are offered the same.

I look forward to working with your staff to schedule this as soon as possible. I would suggest we set the debate before the March Fourth Primaries. It is my hope that one of the TV networks would offer to sponsor such an event.

Senator, let's lead by example and get the ball rolling. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this idea and debating you in front of the American people

Sincerely,

Mike Huckabee"

ruffedge: considering McCain's delegate count it seems highly unlikely that he would agree to a two way debate. He's already canceled one debate that was scheduled for the 28th of February. I am more inclined that Sen. McCain finds a coronation preferable to actually having to work for the GOP nomination. Besides, the Senator is fully well aware of Gov. Huckabee's exceptional debating skills and his own lack there of.

I Will Survive

Huckabee is definitely a survivor. This video is really cool.

Things I've Learned

I've learned quite a bit from this election cycle.

I've learned that the bulk of the conservative chattering class are nothing more than masses of hot air doing what they can to keep their ratings from floundering. They've slammed one candidate for what they consider to be leftist policies yet supported another who's policies were distinctly leftist.

I've learned that the Republican party wants evangelicals to cast their votes and then go away. They neither want nor appreciate Christians becoming involved in any other way other than voting.

I've learned that because of poor leadership within the party, the Republicans will end up with a nominee that most of us can neither get behind or get excited about.

If the Republican party honestly seeks to allow illegals to enter this nation in hopes of them becoming part of the GOP voting block, than I would say that they're dreaming. If the Republican party wishes to reach out to the homosexual movements in hopes of forming a gay GOP base, then I have to say they're dreaming. From where I'm standing, this is exactly what they seem to be striving for though I have no idea why. I beleive it is certain though, if they really believe that they are going to regain the majority with out the evangelical vote they're sadly mistaken.

I'm not sure what my next move will be. I'm sure come November, I will plug my nose and cast my vote for McCain, Once again, voting for the lesser of the two evils.

No matter how the primaries finally turn out, I've learned that Mike Huckabee will go down as one of the men that I most admire. I believe that were it not for his pastoral background, he would be the candidate in the lead right now for the Republican nominations. He has the personality, the ideas, the intelligence and the motivation to succeed. Unfortunately for him the very source from which he gained all these attributes is exactly why he's been for the most part, blackballed by the establishment Republicans.

I believe that the damage that's been done to the GOP is going to take a long time to fix. I just hope that we can live with these consequences for four or eight maybe even twelve more years.

John Stossel on Gun Control

John Stossel on 20/20 examines the balance between gun control and crime reduction.

As far as I'm concerned, the 2nd Amendment guarantees law abiding citizens of this country the right to own and bear arms. After watching "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson, I understand fully why the writers of the U.S. Constitution wrote the second amendment in the first place and it isn't just for hunters. The American citizen should have the right to protect himself against tyranny.

Iraqis With False Passports head for U.S. via Mexico

Iraqis nabbed in Mexico, headed to U.S. with fake IDs

This isn't something that would be considered note worthy by the mainstream media, but....

From the page: "Two more Iraqis with false Bulgarian passports were detained by Mexican officials in Monterrey bringing the total to four this month."

ruffedge: Yet the Republican appointed nominee for president doesn't seem to feel that border security is a priority. I'm wondering if maybe his hawkish obsessions don't include bringing more terror attacks or even a war to U.S. soil.

All of the so called "serious" contenders for the presidential bid are more than willing to keep the southern border wide open. The man from Arkansas on the other hand seeks to seal the border only he has been technically pushed out of the race as well as demonized by his own party.

May God help us.

Huckabee's Response to McCain/NYT issue

Huckabee's Response to McCain/NYT issue

When asked about the McCain/NYT issue concerning John McCain and Vicki Iseman Gov. Huckabee responded with, "I only know him to be a man of integrity."

Okay, here is guy who has been dumped on by the Republican party right from the git-go. Yet through it all, he has managed to take the high road even when dirt about an opposing candidate is dropped right in his lap.

To be honest, I'm not sure if I believe Senator McCain or not when he says nothing happened between him and Ms. Iseman. I find the idea of a 71 year old guy mixing it up with a 40 year old woman a little repulsive. But based on the reasons why McCain left his first wife it wouldn't surprise me to see history repeat itself.

Not to stray to far off the subject of this post, what I found so interesting about this article from MSNBC aside from it's brevity was actually the reader comments.

Particularly this one from Cory in Tampa Florida;

Since Huckabee has shown us lately that he is not a man of integrity, and has only stayed in this to make personal money on speeches in the Caymans and to now SELL his book on how he thinks we should do to help America.(Other candidates just put their suggestions on their websites for free.) I don't think that his opinion on integrity means anything. Once a televangelist always a televangelist.

The absence of fact really scares me, regardless of which side it's coming from. Where do people get their information. Huckabee is an ordained minister, yet that hardly makes him a televangelist. Also, I wonder if Cory is aware that the other presidential contenders, Senators Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, as well as Rep Ron Paul are all being paid full congressional compensation while they are seeking party nominations. That means dear Cory, that all these candidates are receiving taxpayer support while campaigning. Even Mitt Romney while he was still a contender had his personal fortune to live off of while on the campaign trail. Huckabee does not have a personal fortune or a congressional position to pay his bills while campaigning.

Regardless though, I believe that the reason why Huckabee is still in this race is because he seeks the presidential nomination. Duh.

An obvious intellect, Rick From North Carolina opined;

What is it with the immoral majority? they prattle and preach to the rest of us but they voted for a man in bush who was a drunk and coke snorter and married to a woman who killed a teen in an automotive accident...they let scum like ted haggerty lie to them about sex outside of marriage and using coke and then sit silent when he is exposed as a coke snorting gay sex crazed loony....you go clowns to right of me

I'll just let this one stand on it's own merit.

Huckabee: 'I May Be Killing My Political Career'

Huckabee: 'I May Be Killing My Political Career'

From the page: "What I mean by that, I'm just saying there are a lot of people who say I'm staying and creating problems for the party, and there are obviously people in the party who are unhappy that I've stayed. Now, keep in mind, they're all supporting John McCain, but this sense that it's just his turn, let's just all step aside -- I find that insulting as a Republican, and as a candidate," Huckabee said. "

Huckabee may be right. Never the less, his platform does very much contrasts from Sen McCain's. A lot of us really have problems with McCain. Not just his past liberal ways but the way he is gravitating ever so "Romneyesquely" far from his own past in order to clinch the Republican nomination. So who do we trust, the old maverick McCain or the new conservative McCain? Or should all these discrepancies be ignored just because the establishment Republicans have declared this to be McCains's turn? Since when did the party appoint nominees and "elected" officials?

I'll stick with Huckabee for as long as he survives this election cycle. I just hope that he will last until May when Indiana holds it's primary. I'd like to be able to vote for someone I believe in for a change.

Cindy McCain responds to Michelle Obama “proud” comments

Cindy McCain responds to Michelle Obama “proud” comments

For what ever reason, Fox News displays a video of Cindy McCain responding to Michelle Obama's remarks rather than focusing on the fact that the wife of a presidential candidate made such a comment in the first place. I'm wondering if they are somehow trying to place Mrs. McCain in a bad light or not. Either way though, I can only disagree with Mrs. Obama. I think that the American people have given reason to be proud many times. It's too bad that she feels that the only thing anyone in this nation has done that's even worthy to be considered is to support her husband's presidential bid. Seems a little self-righteous to me.

Che Guervara and Obama Supporters

Che Guevara and the Obama Campaign

From the page: "The U.S. is the great enemy of mankind!" raved Ernesto "Che" Guevara in 1961. "Against those hyenas there is no option but extermination. We will bring the war to the imperialist enemies' very home, to his places of work and recreation. The imperialist enemy must feel like a hunted animal wherever he moves. Thus we'll destroy him! We must keep our hatred against them (the U.S.) alive and fan it to paroxysms!"

Compared to Che Guevara, Ahmadinejad sounds like the Dalai Lama.

--------------------------------
I've always been a little bit disturbed by the images of Che Guervara, on tee shirts or used as avatatars on blogs. Do people honestly know what this guy did and the terror and suffering that he brought on so many people? Why would even the American left wish to be identified with this monster? It's ironic that leftists attempt to compare conservatives with Hitler yet willingly line themselves up with a nut job that could have left Hitler in the dust

Scary is, that now we see where supporters of Barrack Obama actually hang posters of Che and a Cuban flag in an Obama campaign office and the news media keeps quiet about it. The actions of these campaign workers are admonished as being "inappropriate". My next question would be is it inappropriate because of the atrocities committed by Che, or because of the fact that such images could hurt Obama in this election cycle?

Obama is to the the left of Hillary Clinton, I wonder just exactly how much to the left he is? I'm sure that he's not going to unleash a reign of terror on the American people, but I have to wonder just exactly how far he may attempt to take his socialist ideology.

In the Crosshairs- No Intelligence in the House

I was just a kid in the sixties, never passed age 11. I do remember watching the news and seeing the war demonstrations, the protests the hairy people with ragged clothing. I never really grasped the concept of what they were doing and why. I think that in my pre-teen TV saturated brain, I never figured that this was going to be more than just a fad. It seemed like a great way for kids to get together and meet other kids. The one thing that never occurred to me back then was the possibility that these young people who vehemently got in the face of the establishment would actually one day, bring their socialist pacifism into the establishment. I have to wonder now, if maybe Nancy and Harry marched in any of the same campus demonstrations together in the sixties. It does scare the crud out of me that both houses of congress are now being led by and much of our national security lies in the hands of aging hippies.

Mike Huckabee - Tri-Cities, Tennessee

Here is the video of Governor Huckabee's speech during the Tri-Cities Aviation Rally on February 4th, 2008. Four more reasons why I support Mike Huckabee.

A Marine Responds to Code Pink

the one word that comes to mind for the actions of Code Pink and the mayor and town council of Berkley would have to be TREASON!! These people actually believe that Al Quaida means us no harm and that the U.S. Marine corp is nothing more than war criminals committing atrocities in the name of the United States.

The audio is really low in this video but considering Code Pink's distorted view on reality, I'd say it's worth to crank up the volume on your machine.

40 Reasons to Ban Guns....

40 reasons to ban guns.....

1. Banning guns works, which is why New York, DC, & Chicago cops need guns.

2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun
control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the
lack of gun control.

3. Statistics showing high murder rates justify gun control but statistics
showing increasing murder rates after gun control are "just statistics."

4. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban, both of which went into
effect in 1994 are responsible for the decrease in violent crime rates,
which have been declining since 1991.

5. We must get rid of guns because a deranged lunatic may go on a shooting
spree at any time and anyone who would own a gun out of fear of such a
lunatic is paranoid.

6. The more helpless you are the safer you are from criminals.

7. An intruder will be incapacitated by tear gas or oven spray, but if shot
with a .357 Magnum will get angry and kill you.

8. A woman raped and strangled is morally superior to a woman with a smoking
gun and a dead rapist at her feet.

9. When confronted by violent criminals, you should "put up no defense -
give them what they want, or run" (Handgun Control Inc. Chairman Pete
Shields, Guns Don't Die - People Do, 1981, p. 125).

10. The New England Journal of Medicine is filled with expert advice about
guns; just like Guns & Ammo has some excellent treatises on heart surgery.

11. One should consult an automotive engineer for safer seatbelts, a civil
engineer for a better bridge, a surgeon for internal medicine, a computer
programmer for hard drive problems, and Sarah Brady for firearms expertise.

12. The 2nd Amendment, ratified in 1787, refers to the National Guard, which
was created 130 years later, in 1917.

13. The National Guard, federally funded, with bases on federal land, using
federally-owned weapons, vehicles, buildings and uniforms, punishing
trespassers under federal law, is a "state" militia.

14. These phrases: "right of the people peaceably to assemble," "right of
the people to be secure in their homes," "enumerations herein of certain
rights shall not be construed to disparage others retained by the people,"
and "The powers not delegated herein are reserved to the states
respectively, and to the people" all refer to individuals, but "the right of
the people to keep and bear arms" refers to the state.

15. "The Constitution is strong and will never change." But we should ban
and seize all guns thereby violating the 2nd, 4th, and 5th Amendments to
that Constitution.

16. Rifles and handguns aren't necessary to national defense! Of course, the
army has hundreds of thousands of them.

17. Private citizens shouldn't have handguns, because they aren't "military
weapons'', but private citizens shouldn't have "assault rifles'', because
they are military weapons.

18. In spite of waiting periods, background checks, fingerprinting,
government forms, etc., guns today are too readily available, which is
responsible for recent school shootings. In the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's,
anyone could buy guns at hardware stores, army surplus stores, gas stations,
variety stores, Sears mail order, no waiting, no background check, no
fingerprints, no government forms and there were no school shootings.

19. The NRA's attempt to run a "don't touch" campaign about kids handling
guns is propaganda, but the anti-gun lobby's attempt to run a "don't touch"
campaign is responsible social activity.

20. Guns are so complex that special training is necessary to use them
properly, and so simple to use that they make murder easy.

21. A handgun, with up to 4 controls, is far too complex for the typical
adult to learn to use, as opposed to an automobile that only has 20.

22. Women are just as intelligent and capable as men but a woman with a gun
is "an accident waiting to happen" and gun makers' advertisements aimed at
women are "preying on their fears."

23. Ordinary people in the presence of guns turn into slaughtering butchers
but revert to normal when the weapon is removed.

24. Guns cause violence, which is why there are so many mass killings at gun
shows.

25. A majority of the population supports gun control, just like a majority
of the population supported owning slaves.

26. Any self-loading small arm can legitimately be considered to be a
"weapon of mass destruction" or an "assault weapon."

27. Most people can't be trusted, so we should have laws against guns, which
most people will abide by because they can be trusted.

28. The right of Internet pornographers to exist cannot be questioned
because it is constitutionally protected by the Bill of Rights, but the use
of handguns for self defense is not really protected by the Bill of Rights.

29. Free speech entitles one to own newspapers, transmitters, computers, and
typewriters, but self- defense only justifies bare hands.

30. The ACLU is good because it uncompromisingly defends certain parts of
the Constitution, and the NRA is bad, because it defends other parts of the
Constitution.

31. Charlton Heston, a movie actor as president of the NRA is a cheap
lunatic who should be ignored, but Michael Douglas, a movie actor as a
representative of Handgun Control, Inc. is an ambassador for peace who is
entitled to an audience at the UN arms control summit.

32. Police operate with backup within groups, which is why they need larger
capacity pistol magazines than do "civilians" who must face criminals alone
and therefore need less ammunition.

33. We should ban "Saturday Night Specials" and other inexpensive guns
because it's not fair that poor people have access to guns too.

34. Police officers have some special Jedi-like mastery over handguns that
private citizens can never hope to obtain.

35. Private citizens don't need a gun for self- protection because the
police are there to protect them even though the Supreme Court says the
police are not responsible for their protection.

36. Citizens don't need to carry a gun for personal protection but police
chiefs, who are desk-bound administrators who work in a building filled with
cops, need a gun.

37. "Assault weapons" have no purpose other than to kill large numbers of
people. The police need assault weapons. You do not.

38. When Microsoft pressures its distributors to give Microsoft preferential
promotion, that's bad; but when the Federal government pressures cities to
buy guns only from Smith & Wesson, that's good.

39. Trigger locks do not interfere with the ability to use a gun for
defensive purposes, which is why you see police officers with one on their
duty weapon.

40. Handgun Control, Inc., says they want to "keep guns out of the wrong
hands." Guess what? You have the wrong hands.

Romney Sends Endorsement, Delegates McCain's Way

Romney Frees McCain for New Fight

Even after he puts his candidacy on suspension, the flip flops just keep on coming. Check out this
video
. Does this honestly look like a heart felt concession on the part of Mitt Romney? Good grief, does it even look like a heart felt and appreciative acceptance on the part of John McCain?

I'm not one to buy into conspiracy theories but something is up here. All the evidence leads to the fact that Romney was under some type of duress or other persuasion to endorse McCain. I wouldn't doubt if Mike Huckabee had been given the same "offer", only he chose to blow it off. Face it Romney was willing to say and do anything to secure that GOP nomination for himself. His hatred of John McCain was almost as intense as it is for Mike Huckabee. There was even rumor that Huckabee and McCain conspired against Romney in West Virginia and Mitt was none to happy about it either. Right after "Super Tuesday", Mitt vowed to press on in his bid for the presidency and then boom, he suspends his candidacy and just like that, he becomes a McCain supporter.

I would love to see the authority identified that is causing all these somewhat out of character endorsements for John McCain. I have my own suspicions as to who they are but for the sake of my propensity to err, I'll wait to disclose such info.
